Risk Assessment (HIRA)
Risk Assessments are the foundation of a health and safety management system. Section 8 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act call for the employer to understand the risks associated with his activities.

Risk Assessment (HIRA)
The learner credited with this unit standard will be able to explain why the risk assessment process is the foundation of any health and safety program and promotes a proactive approach to health and safety management.
Qualifying learners will be able to
- Explain the legal and specified requirements for conducting risk assessments
- Explain the hazard identification and risk assessment process
- Identify core activities
- Analyse activities to identify hazards and risks
- Identify and implement corrective actions according to recognized hierarchy of controls
